Sino-Indian tensions spill over into Google Play App Store – Security

Tensions amongst the world’s most populous nations, India and China, have boiled in excess of into Google’s Play Store with builders from India crafting apps that questioned users to remove Chinese-built apps.

The Indian apps that targeted Android program originating in China have been taken down by Google.

Google India issued a statement on the concern in excess of the weekend, indicating the packages violated its deceptive conduct policy.

Google did not elaborate on which apps ended up removed, and who the builders in question are.

Media reports in the United States advised that movie conferencing app Zoom and movie sharing app TikTok ended up each targeted.

OneTouch Applabs, whose “Remove China” app was taken down from the Play Store by Google, said the program was formulated after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for “Atm Nirbhar Bhahrat” or a self-reliant India.

Nevertheless, Remove China only detected the apps’ state of origin and did not remove them, OneTouch Applab claimed.

Remove China was supposedly offered for two months on the Play retail store and experienced in excess of a million downloads in just 10 days, its developer claimed.
